Heilongjiang International Joint Laboratory of Advanced Biomass Materials (International cooperation) was officially approved on December 2nd, 2022, under the relevant provisions of Heilongjiang Province International Science and Technology Cooperation Platform Management Measures (Regulation [2022] No. 12 of Bureau of Science & Technology, Heilongjiang Province).
The joint lab is based on the Forestry Engineering Discipline of Northeast Forestry University (NEFU). The NEFU is a multidisciplinary university with Forestry as its dominant discipline and Forestry Engineering as the characteristic focus. It was founded in July, 1952, is entitled to enjoy support from several of the country’s initiatives, including the “Project 211”§in October, 2005 and the Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines in June, 2011. It was selected as the First-class Discipline Construction University in September, 2017. The NEFU is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the State Forestry Administration according to their agreement in November, 2010, and by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province in the light of the agreement in March, 2012. The Forestry EngineeringDiscipline is one of the two international first-class construction disciplines in NEFU. It includes several sub-disciplines, such as “Wood Science and Technology”, “Chemical Processing and Engineering of Forest Products”,“Biomaterial Engineering”, and “Biomass Composite Materials”.
